Spokane tops Cardinals

COEUR d'ALENE — Freshman Jordyn Williams had 16 kills, but the Cardinals dropped the final two sets and fell 19-25, 25-11, 23-25, 29-27, 15-11 to the Bigfoot in nonconference play at Christianson Gymnasium. 

"Throughout the preseason, we've flashed greatness in all areas, but have yet to really put it all together from start to finish on the same night," NIC coach Drew Pascua said. "Tonight was another example of that, not being able to stretch those runs out, and these ladies are great learners, so we trust they will find their groove." 

Freshman Nicole Groiss had 12 kills and freshman Annie Lewis 10 kills for NIC (5-7), which hosts College of Southern Idaho to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play next Saturday at noon. 

Spokane is 9-7.
