Cardinals get right, down Spokane in four

SPOKANE — When the momentum is on one side of the net, sometimes that three minutes between sets can change everything.

Rylee Hartwig, a sophomore from Post Falls High, had 11 kills and one ace for North Idaho College in a 16-25, 25-12, 25-15, 27-25 Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Community Colleges of Spokane on Friday at Spokane Falls Community College.

"We came out super flat and Spokane was ready to play tonight," NIC coach Brittany Tilleman said. "They just fed off being at home and we were just flat."

Sophomores Jessica Stires had 10 kills and two blocks and soph Abigail Beaton had 10 kills and five blocks for NIC (18-1, 6-0 NWAC).

"We switched from a 5-1 to a 6-2 and our right sides just took off," Tilleman said. "And they pretty much had an open net. Both Stires and Madilyn Harper (six kills) did a good job of putting the ball away. Spokane made some adjustments and we got a little too comfortable, but I was proud of the girls for turning it back on and finishing that game and getting it done in four."

Freshman Morgan Claus had 20 digs, sophomore Brooke Minden 17 digs, freshman Karolyne Wolfgramm 31 assists and an ace, freshman Hailey Hillman 13 assists for NIC, which travels to Columbia Basin of Pasco, Wash., on Wednesday.

Spokane is 4-12, 1-4.
