NIC closes busy homestand with sweep

COEUR d'ALENE — After three matches in four days, you can excuse a few errors.

Not that North Idaho College made many on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Morgan Claus and sophomore Rachael Stacey had eight kills each, sophomore Jessica Stires seven in a 26-24, 25-13, 25-10 win over the Yakima Valley Yaks in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Christianson Gymnasium on Saturday.

NIC also notched home conference wins on Wednesday against Wenatchee Valley and Walla Walla on Friday.

"The girls are definitely tired and ready for some rest again," said NIC coach Brittany Tilleman, whose team improved to 16-1, 4-0 in conference play. "They did a good job of showing up after missing 13 serves last night and just played well today. We did a good job of not giving away points."

Freshman Hailey Hillman had 14 assists, freshman Karolyne Wolfgramm 12 assists, freshman Omayra Valley 15 digs, freshman Madilyn Harper six blocks and sophomore Rylee Hartwig five blocks and an ace for NIC, which travels to Big Bend in Moses Lake on Wednesday.

"We just started clicking in that second set," Tilleman said. "I think they realized that they're a good team if we can control the errors."

Yakima Valley is 10-9. 3-2.
