TUKWILA, Wash. — Talk about the right place, right time.
North Idaho College sophomore midfielder Mariel Stuart was there on Wednesday.
Stuart scored off a corner kick in the 64th minute, the lone goal in the Cardinals 1-0 win over the Chemeketa Storm in the Northwest Athletic Conference friendlies at the Starfire Soccer Complex.
"We had a couple of bounces off the kick in the (penalty) box," NIC women's soccer coach Kellsi Parson said. "At one point, it just bounced right to Mariel and she knocked it home."
NIC (3-1-0) outscored its opponents 4-0 in the friendlies.
"We put eight different kids on the back line and played really well defensively," Parson said. "If we can continue to do that and score a couple of goals a game, we'll be tough to beat."
NIC hosts Pacific Northwest Christian of Pasco, Wash., on Tuesday.
