Bio

Derrick Booth returns to NIC for his third season as Head Coach for the men's wrestling team. In his previous two years, Booth has lead the Cardinals to fifth and sixth place national finishes. During that time, he coached 10 All-Americans and one National Champion. He also lead the Cardinals to their first Region 18 team title since 2013. Booth was also named Coach of the Year at the Region 18 Tournament.

As an athlete, Booth wrestled for the Cardinals from 2012 to 2014. While at NIC Booth was a part of a NJCAA National Team Title in 2013 and gained All-American status in 2014. Booth then moved on to Coker University in South Carolina where he wrestled his final two years and completed his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science.  

Booth returns to the northwest after spending two seasons on the coaching staff at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa. While he was there, he coached three All-Americans and helped to team improve from 25th in the nation during 2020, to 10th in the nation in 2021. While coaching, Booth also finished his master’s degree in Sport and Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University.
