Craig, Cards take two of three in Colorado duals
GREELEY, Colo. — Porter Craig, a freshman who won a state 5A title at Coeur d'Alene High in 2022, won twice via pin for North Idaho College in duals with Division I Northern Colorado and NJCAA programs Otero and Northwest Kansas Technical College on Sunday at Northern Colorado University.
Wrestling at 157 pounds, Craig pinned Micah Castro of Northwest Kansas Technical College in 2 minutes, 5 seconds, as well as Sullivan Deherrera of Otero in 4:39. Craig lost by a 12-7 decision in his third match to Cameron Lucero of Northern Colorado.
NIC, ranked fifth in the latest NJCAA poll, beat sixth-ranked Northwest Kansas Technical College 30-22, as well as Otero of La Junta, Colo., 40-15. Northern Colorado beat NIC 52-0 in the Cardinals third dual.
Sophomore Bradley Whitwright (197 pounds) and freshman Tominiko Takafua (285) also won by pin for NIC against Northwest Kansas Technical College of Goodland, Kan.
NIC returns to action Jan. 12-13 at the National Duals tournament on the campus of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at Miami, Okla.
