Cold shooting dooms Cardinals in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — North Idaho College finished 18 of 54 shooting in a 68-46 loss to the Western Wyoming Mustangs in the second day of the College of Southern Nevada Holiday Tournament on Tuesday at the Doolittle Recreation Center.

Addie Kiefer, a sophomore from Lakeland High, had 23 points and 10 rebounds for NIC (6-8), which beat Western Wyoming 75-70 in Casper College Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 25 in Casper, Wyo.

"We shot the ball terribly today," NIC coach Nathan Covill said. "Addie was great again, but we just didn't play great defensively. Credit to Western Wyoming. They did a great job of switching things that put us on our heels that created some hesitation. We just struggled to score quite a bit today."

Sierra Eddie scored 20 points for Western Wyoming (4-11) of Rock Springs, Wyo.

NIC concludes the tournament today against Lethbridge College at 10 a.m. Deanna (Dotts) Simpson, a Coeur d'Alene High product who played on NIC's 2011 NJCAA championship team, is an assistant coach for Lethbridge.
