North Idaho gets 3-0 win over Wenatchee Valley

COEUR d'ALENE — It wasn't just one guy that kept it clean for North Idaho College.

It was the entire flock.

Kael McGowan, a freshman from Post Falls High, had three saves for the Cardinals in a 3-0 win over the Wenatchee Valley Knights in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Eisenwinter Field on Wednesday.

"Kael had a really good game, but everyone really contributed to keeping it a clean sheet," NIC coach Brad Williams said. "We were relentless running all over the field and getting to the ball and dedicated to defending well. But Kael did have a great game."

Both teams had three shots on goal in the match.

"We wanted to be difficult to play against and stingy on defense," Williams said. "We were attacking together and the guys carried out the gameplan beautifully."

NIC (2-2, 1-1 NWAC) hosts the Community Colleges of Spokane on Saturday.

Wenatchee Valley is 2-4, 0-2.

First half — 1, NIC, Spencer Lords (unassisted), 12:09. Second half — 2, NIC, Tegan Newlan (Isaac Fritts), 74:26. 3, NIC, Muhammed Diallo (unassisted), 81:00.
