2023 North Idaho College Men's Soccer Season Preview

Coeur d'Alene, ID - With a new head coach and an almost entirely new squad, North Idaho College men's soccer looks to end its final NWAC season on a high note.

After the departure of longtime head coach Ken Thompson, NIC hired former NC State University Assistant Coach Brad Williams to take the helm of the program.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of getting to know the student-athletes with over 20 new additions to the team," Williams said. "We're looking forward to getting into our conference slate."

NIC returns just four players from last season's 4-9-3 squad including NWAC East Region All-Star Honorable mention Spencer Lords, David Irigoyen, Jayden Yoast-Gomes and Sandpoint High School graduate Nolan Angell. Williams said he looks forward to seeing his team figure out how to mesh as a unit.

"We have a very solid goalkeeping core and some talented players in the midfield and forward line that we believe will get goals and assists for us this season," Williams said. "The team has a blue-collar mentality and is incredibly hard-working."

With a team of predominately freshmen, Williams said he looks forward to playing winning soccer in NIC's final season in the NWAC, as all NIC sports transfer back to the NJCAA next summer.

"We are excited about all of them as they will help to build the foundations for a successful program on and off the field," Williams said.

NIC begins conference play against Blue Mountain Community College at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 in Pendleton, Ore., and ends its regular season against Walla Walla Community College at 4:15 p.m. at NIC's Coeur d'Alene campus.
