Cardinals Remain In Postseason Hunt, Beat Colorado Northwestern

RANGELY, Colo. — Dante Sawyer, a sophomore from San Francisco, Calif., had 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting for North Idaho College in a 74-56 Scenic West Athletic Conference win over Colorado Northwestern on Thursday.

With the win, NIC (21-7, 7-3 SWAC) remains a game back of conference-leading Salt Lake (23-3, 8-2) with two games remaining in the regular season. The top four teams in the conference advance to the Region 18 tournament March 8-9 at the site of the conference champion. In other SWAC action on Thursday, Utah State-Eastern (15-8, 4-5) beat Southern Idaho (20-8, 7-3) 89-80 in Price, Utah, moving NIC and CSI into a tie for second place in the conference. NIC visits CSI next Saturday to conclude the regular season.

Sophomore Terin Johnson, a sophomore from Grand Prairie, Texas, had 15 points and six rebounds for NIC. Cobi Campbell, a sophomore from Puyallup, Wash., had 11 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals. 

Cole Johnson scored 16 points for Colorado Northwestern (13-15, 2-8).

NIC travels to Utah State-Eastern of Price, Utah on Saturday.
